The 2011 NABJ Multimedia Short Course brings together talented news professionals from all over the United States to 30 students at Florida A&M University’s campus. The 2011 NABJ Short Course is designed to give students a crash course in the world of multimedia journalism.
The opening presentation welcomed many professional journalists including key speaker Jill Cox-Cordova. As the senior producer of CNN.com and seasoned journalist Jill Cox-Cordova brings knowledge and wisdom to the program.
Cordova speaks on the importance of being a multimedia journalist in the changing world of journalism. She explains to the students her YES theory that has kept her successful and motivated throughout the years.
Her theory is simple, S for skills, E to Embrace a Support System, and Y for Your brand. Cordova explains that all three are equivalent and they all must be used together in order to be successful.
“I’ve never been fired or laid off and if do, I will still have my YES theory.” says Cordova.
The 2011 NABJ Short Course will continue on through Sunday closing with a dinner and an awards ceremony.
